Behind DBC Audio & Video – prod.byVodka

For beatbox to spread, it must be heard and seen; hence it needs good Audio & Video. So, it was only natural that we, Vodka Productions join up with Delhi Beatbox Community to turn up the production quality level to an 11, because clearly there’s no one beatboxing more in the country right now than these guys.

The Birth of prod.byVodka

I myself have been doing beatbox audio for over 4 years now for my home community, Vadodara Beatbox. More so out of necessity, because we simply didn’t have the money to get it done for somewhere. So that’s where my journey as a mixing engineer for beatbox audio started.

It was rough in the beginning, I was new to beatbox in general, never mixed anything before and to just toss myself into this field of work completely removed from my area of study was a gamble, but a successful one now that I look back. I always had a vision that beatbox audio NEEDS to be improved across the board, whether we’re looking at the Indian scene or the international. Not gonna take any names, but a lot of what really pushed me to dive into audio was how absolutely 🤮 some people were at it, and how many great beatboxers deserved a higher quality output.

So, add to that 4 years of teaching myself how to mix audio, edit video, master audio, color grade, yadda yadda yadda; somewhere along the way I find Karma. What started off as a discord call with Parichay introducing me to a friend of his (Haha, get it. Parichay. Introducing. Haha. Heh. Sorry) quickly turned into one of the best friendships in my life. At some point Karma joins Jindal as a Film Student, and starts editing on his own. He did edit before, but now he was taking it a lot more seriously. Dude straight up stole my flow AND my clients and I’m not even mad about it. Bro was getting GOOD good really quickly.

And so the only natural future was to work together. And that’s what we did. We founded Vodka Productions (or prod.byVodka, we love both names, call us whatever) mid last year and we’ve been working as a unit ever since.

Why we joined DBC & what we’re doing here

I had been a part of VBX as the head for a very long time, and I felt like I needed to do different things, tend to things that were more my forte and DBC was legitimately the best option. A plethora of beatboxers, amazing live events and an even better battle scene; what more do you need? And so I pitched it first to Karma, then I got on a call with two members from the admins at DBC and here we are!

As for what we’re doing? Well, audio & video. Duh. Shoots. Shoutouts. Music Videos. Wildcards. Live Event Post-Production. A bunch of stuff really. What we bring on board is industry standard audio and punchy, amazing video. That’s just what we do, but that’s not all. There’s a lot of exciting stuff we’re gonna do that we can’t announce yet so stay tuned, you’ll see us around.

Probably should have started with this, but we’re a professional pair, specializing in specifically beatbox audio & video. I’m Bhargav, the resident audio guy, and the other half of prod.byVodka is Karma, the resident video editor & cinematographer.
